Ok, Google Earth is hellishly cool. Get it now. That is all. [edit - basically its Google Maps Aerial veiw on your desktop. Not quite as zoomable, but pretty close. Plus it’s more than North America! Pretty cool, can’t wait to see where this goes…]

Agreed - this software is mind-blowingly cool. Get it as soon as you can. Just make sure you don’t have any pressing deadlines, because they won’t get met.

Also, I’m trying to put together a nice collection of the best placemarks and overlays and stuff. Contribute to it if you want to - www.googleearthhacks.com

I agree as well. I looked at it from a download my friend gave me (because Google isn’t letting anyone download it right now), and I think it’s awesome. While awesome, still creepy at the same time because of how far in depth it can go.

It has much more detail than maps.google.com has which is impressive. There is a program similar to this put out by nVidia that I saw a while back, probably about 2 years ago.

It’s interested technology. I especially like the Google Earth though, because you can get directions on it which is a lot faster than going to a website or anything of that. It’s fast, efficient, and precise. Google has done another good job : )

Mickey - Nice site, just registered on it. I’ll see what I can contribute to it :)

And Jonathan - totally agree, its a really nice, but not exactly original, bit of software. Good technology

I own a Mac Computer, and I am very upset that google earth cannot be downloaded yet. A friend of mine has it and I was excited to get it also, but I can’t. Oh well, I can wait :) Also, I think ALL places should ge into depth, not just LARGE cities. EXAMPLE Queen Charlotte Islands. I STILL LOVE YOU GOOGLE!!

Yeah, the resolution will come though. For example - where I am is pretty poor, and rather stylised photos too (possibly even colourised).

When you concider how much work it is, even for just the main areas, it’s pretty impressive. North America is much better than the rest of the world too…

    Hi All Experts,
Does anyone use google earth images as ground image planes for use in aerial scenes. I know how to stitch them together but are there any tools or tricks to make sure that the images are at the same height, angle and such to make sure they stitch well. I know in the pro version you can get bigger images but im not going to pay for the pro version when i could stitch multiple images together…
