Twilight Universe

I’m still distracted by Touched v2 atm, and the day job, but I wanted to wish everyone in the New Orleans area the best. I have a few friends in the area, but thankfully no-one that close to the carnage. There have been a lot of things written about the people still in that area, many bording on the negative, to get things in the proper context though everyone should read this post by Cherie Priest. Required reading.

Currently suffering a mild concussion… no thats about it really. Going to lie down…

Concidering the time this should be midnight update… but anyhow.

It’s been rather dead around the Universe, and with good reason: work deadlines.

However I won’t make any excuses: I’m still late with Touched v2. Therefore I shall not stop until Beta1 is out the door and emailed off to the kind people that want to help me test it. Beta 2 will go on public release… maybe it’ll be a Release Candidate, you never know.

Anyhow things about Touched v2:

• It uses SACK as its AJAX base.
• The custom fields issue will be fixed (not going to touch them at all).
• It will allow you to edit individual parts of a post (title, entry, comments.. etc) not just the whole post in one lump as previously.
• I may, if have have time, have visual effects added, this probably won’t be in an initial beta though…

So yes. That is what is going on. After this is out of the way I will update more often, I promise.

This brings a whole new meaning to going medievil on your ass. Truely inspired… if not the smartest guy on the block.

Thought I’d update you all on how things are going with Touched development.

I’ve got the new interface working, which functionally is much like Flickr, and I’m just ironing out bugs before it hits a beta phase. Remember that to get this to work I’ll be requiring the basic structure I recomended in Making Friendly Templates (there’s really no other way to get that kind of functionality).

So, on that note, before I release this I want to have a closed beta test — if you are interested drop me a line in the comments and I’ll get to you when I have a beta version to send to you.

I was really surprised and.. well… touched by the response to the original version of the plugin. I really want to make sure Touched v2 is much better, and much closer to bug free than Touched was, and this is your chance to help.
